Machine Tool Sales Recovered by Increased Demand abroad
According to the statistics of Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association, the orders placed at home and abroad decreased by 26.8% from last year amounting to JPY900 billion in 2020, but increased on a monthly basis because of the recovered demand abroad from November.
In April and May the amount of orders dropped to somewhere around JPY50 billion which was half of the previous year, but in June it recovered up to JPY67.1 billion. After then it gradually increased thanks to the recovered demand from abroad, bringing an increase by 8.6% in November and 8.7% in December superseding that of last year for two consecutive months.
During the two months the domestic demand was decreasing by about 10% comparing with last year, but the addition of overseas demand more than 20% pushed up the whole amount of orders.
