Servomex expands sales of its Humming Bird brand products

Servomex is a division of the British firm Spectris, headquartered in Egham, Surrey, and a specialist in measurement instrument and control systems for electronics sector. Spectris is also a holding company with 16 firms in the US and Europe under its control. Its Servomex division is expanding sales of its sensors under the brand name Humming Bird which it itself markets directly.

The Servomex division of Spectris, which mainly sells various types of gas analysis instruments under the Servomex brand name, has also been selling OEM sensors for some 20 years. In 1980 Spectris established a company in Japan, in which in 2004 it set up a Servomex division. Spectris is also engaged in activities to raise awareness of the Servomex brand name in the market and to promote sales by its agents. It is engaged in direct marketing of OEM sensor modules and Humming Bird products. Sales of Servomex equipment has traditionally been handled by sales agents. Since 2005, however, sales of sensors started to be handled mainly by Servomex itself. To expand business, in 2009 products under the Humming Bird brand name were added to the OEM sensors, and an effort was made to promote this.

Humming Bird products are gas sensors based on the gas analysis technology cultivated by Servomex for over 50 years, which is based on mainly the magnetic dumbbell and zirconia type measurement principles. Some of these are used in the Servomex analyzers. As OEM sensor modules, these are sold to be installed in analyzers of other companies, medical monitors and in the medical examination equipment. Specifically, it is assumed that they are installed in such medical equipment as biomonitors, equipment for caring for the newly born, for monitoring of breathing under anesthesia, and to evaluate lung function. Numerous sales have been recorded in the Japanese market.
