Nippon Sanso Holdings Appoints Toshihiko Hamada as New Top Management

The board of directors’ meeting of Nippon Sanso Holdings on April 27 resolved to designate Toshihiko Hamada as representative director and president/CEO to assume office with effect from June 18. Yujiro Ichihara of the current president/CEO will be appointed to be chairman of the board of directors’ meeting effective on the same day.

This change in the management system seems to be intended to upgrade further the corporate value and reinforcement governance as a global enterprise which transferred to a holding company system in October last year.

In the newly arranged system Mr. Hamada will show leadership as CEO in the business management with his abundant experiences in the US, while Mr. Ichihara will play a coordinating and supervising role for the board of directors meeting as chairman who established the global company covering the USA, Europe and Japan.

At the same time, the company has added a director and made more impartiality of the board meeting by appointing three unaffiliated directors out of nine directors in total.

Mr. Hamada who assumes the new post of president is aged 64 years born in September 1956. He entered Nippon Sanso in 1981, was in charge of specialty gas technology as an executive vice-president of Mathison-Tri Gas in 2002, deputy general manager of semiconductor gas section in Taiyo Nippon Sanso’s electronics division in 2005 and promoted as the general manager in 2006. He assumed the post of general manager of business strategy promotion section in 2010.

He was appointed managing director of Nissan TANAKA in 2014, senior managing director in 2016, and president and representative director in 2017, and executive vice-president (assistant to president) of former Taiyo Nippon Sanso in June 2020 and then executive vice-president (aide to president) of Nippon Sanso Holdings since October of 2020.
