Iwatani Sells 7N Ultrahigh-purity Helium from April

Iwatani started to sell 7N (99.99999%) ultra-high purity helium gas from April 2021.

Foreseeing the growing demand for the application to purging and analyzing in the semiconductor and chemical industries, Iwatani had already made trial shipments of the product from January 2021, and has started a regular sale at this time.

According to Iwatani, 7N is the highest purity available in the industry for the two major applications to the production of semiconductors and analysis using gas chromatograph.

In the semiconductor producing process it is used to remove residual gases in the chamber or piping, so that the users can expect their reduction of defective products and the improvement of yield. In the analysis field such as gas chromatograph, they can get effects to upgrade accuracy in analysis with the use of the said high-purity gas which contains less impurities comparing with 6N purity gas.
The ultrahigh-purity helium gas was produced and filled in Tokyo Helium Center (Inashiki District, Ibaraki Prefecture). Considering the guarantee of 7N purity, Iwatani uses specific cylinders and valves, and makes a thorough control of quality in the pre-treatment and the process to fill into the cylinders.

Iwatani comments, “We wish to develop new applications of ultrahigh-purity helium gas and propose new functions to users.”
