As for the transience of the contracted number of ships, it showed 15 to 20 ships per month from January 2017 to January 2020, but in February 2020 the figure dropped down to 5 which was a decrease by 70% from the previous month.
Although the trend moved downward, it gradually recovered with an increased number of ships since March 2021 and turned out to mark 37 ships in June 2021 that was highest in the past five years.
For reference, the contracted number of ships decreased to 15 ships in July 2021. Because, there occurred a shortage of ships over the world due to the recovery of economic activities suspended by Covid-19, and it seems to have made China, Korea and also Japan possible to receive orders for shipbuilding again.
