FC EXPO of comprehensive exposition relating to hydrogen energy was held in Tokyo Big Sight for three days from September 29 to October 1. Although the number of exhibits in the new exposition was only half of that in the spring exposition in March of this year, there were a number of visitors from the first day.

FC EXPO is one of the events in “Smart Energy Week” of comprehensive exhibition related to new energies sponsored by RX Japan. Six more exhibitions are also held with a theme of new energies like solar, wind and bio-mass.

There were exhibits by about 480 companies in the exhibition site. In FCEXPO they introduced cutting edge technologies of hydrogen energy and the related activities by about 50 companies. It was participated also by industrial gas-related companies like Mitsubishi Kakoki Kaisha, Nagano Keiki and KITZ.

In the Decarbonization Management EXPO which was held at the same time Kansai Electric Power introduced the production/supply of CO2-free hydrogen utilizing Hydro Edge in collaboration with Iwatani, the research plan as NEDO project as to the production/supply of carbon-neutral methane by methanation. They also introduced hydrogen mixed-combustion/single-fuel power generation utilizing an existing thermal power plant which was adopted by NEDO for Green Innovation Fund the other day.

In addition, JGC Holdings explained its activities for implementation of a hydrogen/ammonia supply chain. It is convincing that there were so many visitors even before lifting of emergency declaration and keener attention was paid toward decarbonization.

Many visitors commented that they were collecting information to see how the environment around us would be changing amid the changeable industrial structure toward decarbonization.

While enterprises are required to reduce emission of CO2, it is now indispensable to meet carbon-neutral requirements of the value chain as far as even of so-called Scope 3 of supply chain including business partners. It naturally turns out to require a business model unlike any in the past. The visitors were showing their seriously keen attention to the exhibited technologies for decarbonization.
