Iwatani Revises Price of Air-separation Gases, CO2 and Helium

Iwatani is going to revise the prices of air-separation gas, carbon dioxide and helium. Regarding part of cylinder gases, Iwatani stepped ahead to revise the prices from the delivery on December 1, and will implement to revise those of bulk gases and helium to be delivered from January 1, 2022. It seems that the markup of revision will roughly be about 10% for air-separation gas and carbon dioxide and 20% or so for helium gas.

Air separation gases are suffering push-ups of the production cost due to the substantial rise of electric power cost caused by the recent price hike of crude oil and LNG. In addition, logistics cost also has risen under the influences of increases in fuel cost hike of light oil and shortage of drivers and the reinforced environmental requirements for workers.

The carbon dioxide business also came across a periodical turnaround and an unexpected trouble which has led to an unavoidable chronic long-distance transportation. Furthermore, expenses for capital investment piled up to avoid aging of the plants and to reinforce supply power.

Although the company has been making a self-help effort to enhance an effective operation of plants in the midst of price hike of tank trucks, cylinders and valves due to the increase in steel materials, Iwatani has regarded the cost hike to be far beyond an absorbable level and came to the conclusion to revise the price.

In the segment of helium gas, there is a long-lasting rise in the ocean transportation cost and the inland conveyance in helium producing countries in addition to the yearly increase in import gas cost due to the unstable operation of overseas plants. It has also been necessary to reinforce more helium containers, So, the company intends to implement revision of the current helium price.

The company is also planning to revise prices also in the cylinder gas business which includes laser gas as well as standard gases containing helium and acetylene which is suffering the price hike of carbide of raw material.
