On January 18, 2022, Nippon Gases Euro-Holding(NGE)of Nippon Sanso Holdings’ European subsidiary announced that its group company Nippon Gases Italia will acquire the majority shares of Noxtec Development (Noxtec) of Spanish medical equipment manufacturer.

Noxtec founded in 2017 is a venture company to develop equipment (administration and monitoring devices) related to the nitric oxide inhalation therapy.
The venture has so far been making product developments globally other than its activities in Spain, but it likely has been wishing to expand further sales channels by reinforcing the relationship with NGE which had been a business friend since before.

As to the acquisition at this time, Nippon Sanso Holdings explained the background that nitric oxide works to reduce rapidly a blood pressure as a strong expander of blood vessel and shorten the reaction time of therapy and the market has been rapidly growing over the world these years, and furthermore showed an idea to cope with the demands of ICU for newborn babies first, followed by children and then grownups and Covid-19 infected persons.

With regard to the prospect of future developments, the company also refers to the possibilities of sales in Japan, saying “While we proceed with the global developments jointly by Noxtec and Nippon Sanso Holding, we think it will lead most probably to discussing a future development in Japan.”
