Iwatani has started to work on a total support of low-carbon and decarbonization management for its customers (companies and groups) across the country.

Before starting the attempt, Iwatani established the Iwatani J-Credit Project taking the advantages of the Government’s J-Credit System, and concluded a basic agreement with Zeroboard aiming at the joint business of calculating and visualizing services on CO2 emission. The company is engaged in the development and offering of the “zeroboard” for the calculation of greenhouse gas emission and visualizing cloud services as well as in the consultation and supports of branding campaign as to electrical and environmental value.

The Iwatani J-Credit Project is applied to the participants among its customers who have introduced a high-efficiency boiler and are using LPG and/or LNG as fuel for their boilers. The CO2 emission reduced by the participating customers are put together by Iwatani to apply for the J-Credit Certification, enabling the customers to join the system without any procedure or cost.

Iwatani has experienced nearly 100 cases of conversion to LPG and/or LNG which contains less carbon than heavy oil, appealing the energy-saving effect to customers. However, no adequate appeal has been made yet regarding the effect of CO2 emission reduction. Then, Iwatani decided to take advantage of the J-Credit Certification System so that the smaller customers not applicable this time to the Law Concerning Promotion of Measures Against Global Warming may feel real the environmental value of CO2 emission reduction. The CO2 reduction amount obtained as credit is returned appropriately to the participating customers as the selling price or maintenance service cost.

In addition, the CO2 Emission Calculating and Visualizing Services are aimed to offer Zeroboard’s cloud services “zeroboard” to customers (mainly manufacturers) to visualize the whole amount of CO2 emission supply chain (Scope 3), including the own activities (Scope 1 & 2) in the international standard of the GHG (greenhouse gas emission) protocol as well as the CO2 emission calculation in corporate activities.

To utilize the services enables a simple and integrated control of the complicated calculation work of emission amount. Furthermore, it is made possible to work out an effective and deliberate proposal with an addition of the function of CO2 reducing simulation for proposal.

As for the future development, a total support aiming at CO2 emission reduction will be possible in companies or groups by combining the certification work for the J-Credit System and the collaboration with Zeroboard. For example, it will become possible to utilize a CO2 emission reduction attained better than targeted by a small-scaled company into the CO2 emission reduction plan of a large-scaled company, or an effective emission control means realized by a large company can be fed back to a small-scaled company.

The company intends to consider an effective use of the environmental value for return services to the regional communities like municipalities and also the sales of carbon offset cartridge or distribution of LPG and/or LNG.
