Russian Invasion of Ukraine Directly Attacks Rare Gas and Helium

The worst situation took place. On February 24 Russia started invasion on Ukraine. The situation is changing every day and the future is uncertain.

Now that Ukraine has been involved in the war, the supply rare gases of Neon (Ne), Krypton (Kr) and Xenon has turned out to be unforeseeable.

In the worst case, rare gases for excimer laser may not be procured any longer and the production line of semiconductor over the world not limiting to Japan may have to be stopped. It is also said by some sources that neon plants in Odessa of Ukraine account for 80 percent of supply to the world.
Influences on helium is also serious. Gazprom of Russia started its Amur natural gas processing plant and helium plant in Far East last year, but a fire broke out just after the start of operation and another breakout of fire in January of this year, leading to the shutdown of the plant. Furthermore, due to the breakout of the recent war, it is anticipated that nobody is unable to predict restoration for more than half year. As for also hexafluoro-1,3-butadiene(C4F6)for the production of semiconductor Russia is an influential supplier.

The economic sanctions to Russia will exert great influences. The U.S.A and EU have decided to exclude Russia from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication SC (SWIFT). Although Japan decided top follow it, there will be difficulty in bank settlements between Japan and Russia.
