AWI group goes into biomass power generation business

“Nihonkaisui, a salt processing company of Air Water Group, to go into power generation business along with the new installation of power generation facility at its Ako plant in Hyogo Prefecture.

Nihonkaisui has already had an old power generation facility to use large quantities of electricity for salt processing. Due to the current facility is aging, the company decided to install new power generation facility. The new facility will go on stream in January, 2015. The construction will be began in December this year.

Not only Nihonkaisui will use electricity produced by the new facility for itself, but they will sell the electricity for their customer. This means that they are going to get involved in the electric power generation industry in full scale by the new installation.

The new facility will use woody biomass or natural gas as a fuel instead of conventional fossil fuel to cope with environmental issue. Feed in Tariff (FIT) which has get underway in July for renewable energy will be applied for the new facility.”
