Iwatani Advances H2 Station engagement for FC Truck with Cosmo Energy
Iwatani is advancing hydrogen station business for FC trucks in collaboration with Cosmo Energy Holdings a petroleum product major of Japan.
On February 8, Iwatani established a limited liability company (LLC) with Cosmo Oil Marketing of the Cosmo HD group company to manage the hydrogen stations for commercial FC cars. It is planned to open a hydrogen station for FC trucks in Ota-Ward of Tokyo in 2024.
The limited liability company is named “Iwatani Cosmo H2 Station LLC” with a fifty-fifty investment by Iwatani and Cosmo Oil Marketing.
In March last year Iwatani and Cosmo Energy HD announced to collaborate in the hydrogen business on hydrogen station and the production of hydrogen. The establishment of LLC is part of the collaboration. The development of hydrogen station for FC trucks will be made through the LLC from now on.
The first hydrogen station by the LLC will be constructed inside the Keihin Truck Terminal on Heiwajima of Ota-Ward, Tokyo. The terminal is located at the position of 500m from the Heiwajima IC of Shuto Expressway Haneda Line, boasting the largest cargo handling terminal of Japan.
It will be attached to the Keihin Truck Terminal Heiwajima SS of Cosmo Oil’s gasoline station having a land area of about 2,463 square meter including the oil re-filling space. It will be established under the name of Iwatani Cosmo H2 Station Heiwajima (tentative name). The station will have a hydrogen supply capacity of 600Nm3/h or more to fill FCV and FC trucks.
