AWI Builds Group’s Complex Base for Electronics Businesses in Kumamoto
Air Water is going to set up a complex base of the Group specialized in the electronics-related businesses equipped with a storing function of various semiconductor materials at Ozu of Kikuchi-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture.
The construction is planned to start from June 2023 for a scheduled completion in the summer of 2024. The new base will be constructed at a place of 21,000m2 close to the planned site for Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing (JASM) of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC) which is now a grove of mixed trees. Air Water is proceeding to purchase a base land for development from several landowners.
Air Water intends to provide a warehouse building to store SPG, special chemicals and basic chemical products, so that a solid supply chain may be systemized mainly for the business with JASM. The company also aims to expand its business scale by developing customer-oriented services for the regional semiconductor-related companies, activating the group synergy with the office and maintenance buildings resided by Digital & Industry Group Electronics Unit, Air Water Materials, Air Water Mechatronics, Nihon Dennetsu, Air Water Plant Engineering and Air Water West Japan.
Regarding the future plan, Air Water puts into perspective the construction of gas plant on the complex base to enable an on-site supply to the semiconductor manufacturers in the vicinity. Although any detail like a planned scale is not disclosed, it seems that the Kumamoto will surely become an important point in Air Water’s electronics business.
