AWI Splits Part of Medical Business into AW Medical for Integration

With effect from July 1, 2023, Air Water makes an absorption-type splitting in part of its business excluding the medical gas business belonging to the Medical Gas Products Unit in Health & Safety Group, and transfers the split part to Air Water Medical (AW Medical) as successor which is a Group company manufacturing equipment.

The business to succeed will be mainly the sales and maintenance of medical equipment in the Medical Equipment & Home Healthcare Division. The company aims to build up a consistent system of development, production, sales and maintenance by means of integrating AW Medical which is a manufacturer of oxygen concentrator and NO inhaler. In addition to the business related to the respiratory equipment which has been handled since before, Air Water is planning to focus on the development of products to cope with remote medication for up-to-date needs in the medical and care industry such as “Comprehensive Community Care System,” “Work-style Reform for Doctors” and “Upgrading of Self-medication Awareness.”

For reference, the succeeding business in FY2022 ending March sold 12.519 billion yen. With the addition of AW Medical’s sales amounting to 3.23 billion yen, the total scale of business is estimated to be about 15 billion yen in FY2023 ending March. In personnel terms, about 60 persons will be transferred from the Medical Product Unit to AW Medical forming a system consisting of 130 employees. Furthermore, Air Water intends to make AW Medical positioned as the core of Air Water’s medical business by renewing the headquarters (Sayama City, Saitama) taking into account a physical integration with the neighboring bases of the Group.
