Resonac Gas Products Withdraws from Compressed H2 Business of Kawasaki
Resonac Gas Products will withdraw from the compressed hydrogen production/sales business in Resonac’s Kawasaki plant effective at the end of December 2024. The hydrogen producing plant facilities and delivery equipment have been aging after about 90 years of use. Furthermore, an unprofitable state took place due to the increase in the production/transportation cost and the shrinking market caused by the competition with liquide hydrogen and hydrogen generators. Judging from the limit of self-help and business continuity, the company decided the withdrawal.
Other than the Kawasaki Plant the company is engaged with the compressed hydrogen business in Koriyama and Oita, which will be continued from now on. Regarding the existing customers to which compressed hydrogen is being supplied from the Kawasaki Plant, the company is now considering alternative measures for supply including the delivery from these plants.
