Prices of Cryogenic Container Products Rose All at Once

The prices of cryogenic container products of cryopreservation containers and cryogenic liquid gas containers are raised from this spring.

PHC raised cryopreservation containers made by MVE (USA) between 35 and 40% from April 1 following the price revision by the supply source. Taiyo Nippon Sanso also raised the prices of both MVE products and its own product (Cryo One) from April 1.

The raising markup of the MVE products is 20% or more (Public Relations Dept.). Niki Glass which imports IC Biomedical’s products has already reflected the down valued yen to its selling prices since January of this year.

Regarding the portable containers, Japan Chemical Engineering and Machinery raised the price of liquid gas container (LGC) by 15% from April 1. Air Water Engineering which imports US-made MVE’s PLC is also planning to raise the prices soon.

In addition, JECC TORISHA raised liquid nitrogen self-pressurizing container SELFER in last January and liquid nitrogen container CEBELL in last July, but following the revision of purchasing price, the price of SELFER-related parts was raised again in March of this year.

As the cryogenic containers are double-structured having an insulating part, the price hike of the steel materials including stainless steel directly affects the cost of products.
Furthermore, the rise of utility costs like electricity and gas pushes up the production cost. Logistic costs also exert negative influences upon profitability.

Each manufacturer has so far made corporate efforts to absorb the added cost into prices, but seems to feel getting close to the limit leading to raising the prices.

A sales manager of a certain company revealed his delicate feeling saying “Upon our announcement of price revision, last minute orders rushed to us and our production schedule based on the current prices has been filled up until the coming summer. Questionable happiness with open arms!”
