Hydrogen Exhibition “H2 MEET” Opens in Seoul Planning Three LH2 Locations within 2023
For three days from September 13 to 15, an H2-related exhibition named “H2 MEET” was held for the fourth time at KINTEX located in Seoul, Korea.
From Japan TK-Fujikin, New Cosmos Electric and Tatsuno of hydrogen dispenser manufacturer exhibited and introduced their products. Stations and liquid hydrogen-related products, containers for transportation and also water electrolysis devices.
In Korea there are accelerated movements concerning liquid hydrogen. Three plants will be opened one after another within this year. Regionally, SK E&S will build a plant of 30,000 tons per annum in Incheon. The JV of Linde and Hyosung will establish production/sales company and build a plant of 5,200-ton capacity in Ulsan, while Doosan Heavy Industries and Changwon Industrial Promoter will build a 1,700 tons plant.
The main consumers of liquid hydrogen are said to be commercial vehicles like FC buses. The Korean Government has post up a diffusion target of 30,000 commercial vehicles for 2030, and aims to develop 70 locations of hydrogen station using liquid hydrogen by the year.
As for the transportation of liquid hydrogen, CRYOS is developing a tank truck to carry liquid hydrogen domestically aiming at a volume of 3 tons at the maximum, and Hylium Industries ties up with Chart of the U.S.A planning to manufacture liquid hydrogen tank trucks having the same capacity of 3 tons for transportation.
For reference, in Korea there are 190 locations of hydrogen station as of the end of August this year, which are about 250 in terms of hydrogen dispenser.
Nearly 180 locations out of them seem to be in operation now. As for their target, they aim at 450 units by 2025 on basis of hydrogen dispenser.
With regard to water electrolysis, an alkali-type device (200Nm3/h 0.7MPa) developed by Korean Zypiros has been exhibited. Hundred pieces of alkali stack of 10kW are loaded in a 40ft container to produce hydrogen having a purity of 5N or more.
