Air Water has been designated as one of the coordinators to transport SPG gases and special chemicals from Honshu to Hokkaido for the pilot line of Innovative Integration for Manufacturing “IIM” semiconductor plant which Rapidus is going to set up with an aim for the mass-production of cutting-edge semiconductors in Chitose City, Hokkaido.

In response to the designation, it has been decided to make the West Japan Air Water Distribution Center (Kameyama City, Mie) of the Air Water group as a staging terminal in Kansai and Chubu Area.

To establish a stable supply to the IIM, Air Water started logistics services to semiconductor plants utilizing group’s comprehensive strength. Air Water aims for high quality and value-added services as its important activity for contribution to reinforcing the supply chains to meet the expanding domestic semiconductor industry.

Rapidus is planning to integrate the scattered SPG gases and special chemicals across the country to the relay station so that it can transport them by railroad and ship with a modal shift to Hokkaido where IIM is located.

Air Water coordinates the delivery and storage arranged by SPG and chemical suppliers in Kansai and Chubu areas as well as the transportation to the seaport and cargo terminal.
It seems that they handle several hundred types of SPG and special chemical. The West Japan Air Water Distribution Center of the relay station started operation from April 2023.

In addition, from now on Air Water will discuss with Rapidus regarding the logistics and transportation/supply system for the reuse and recovery after use of the semiconductor materials for IIM products so that “Innovation for Real Greening” posted by Rapidus can be promoted. In Hokkaido Rapidus possesses a few logistics centers handling materials with a wide range from a small quantity of reagent to large container cargoes, which are advantageous to enable storing and transporting industrial wastes between Hokkaido and Honshu. The company boasts its contribution to the developments of the semiconductor industry with the safe and efficient transportation and storage.
