Supagas acquires LPG business in Australia
Supagas, an Australian business subsidiary of Nippon Sanso Holdings, reached an agreement with Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers (hereafter WesCEF) to acquire the LPG sales business in Western Australia and Northern Territory of Wesfarmers Kleenheat Gas (hereafter Kleenheat). Kleenheat is a subsidiary of WesCEF handling LPG business of them.
Supagas deploys LPG and industrial gas business in New South Wales and Queensland in the Southeast region of Australia. The business ratio is 7 to 3. Their latest annual sales was around ¥32 billion. When looking for any chance to expand its sales business by acquiring existing sales channel, Supagas received the proposition from WesCEF to sell the business assets of Kleenheat and reached an agreement for the acquisition.
The acquired assets include Kleenheat’s LPG sales business in Western Australia and Northern Territory, as well as LPG supply offices, related facilities and vehicles. Those businesses are accounting 40% of LPG distribution business market in the Northwest part of Australia. The cost for this acquisition was several billion yen. With this acquisition, the sales of Supagas will become larger to around ¥48 billion. The contract is expected to be completed by the end of August, subject to approval by Australian Completion and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
