Air Water Participates in New Space Port WG

Air Water has joined the working group named NSP-WG which aims to seek a way for New Space Port (NSP).

Attempts of launching rockets by private companies have been topical during these years, and it is now being orientated to make arrangements for NSP as a new base to support the highly-frequent space transportation for the purpose to attract passengers, sightseers and facility users in addition to launching and landing of rockets.

The NSP-WG was organized by Innovative Space Carrier System to make a feasibility study on NSP. It has been joined by 17 companies and one university including Air Water, Ebara, Kajima and Mitsui-OSK Line and so on.
Since 1970s Air Water has been engaged in the development of space rocket and supplied gas supply equipment as well as R&D activities with universities. Furthermore, the company has an abundant expertise and technologies in the production, storage, transportation and use of oxygen and methane for fuel of rockets.

Recently Air Water is getting engaged in supplying liquefied biomethane (LBM) derived from livestock manure as gas for the combustion test of a rocket engine, and investing to Space Cotan which is operating Hokkaido Space Port. Such activities are aimed at decarbonization of the space industry and the development of regional industries. With the participation at this time in the NSP-WG, the company intends to make efforts to contribute to the expansion of the space-related industries and the regional realization of decarbonization.
