Air Water announced to supply hydrogen to the hydrogen power generation equipment of energy company JERA. Air Water will supply hydrogen to JERA’s hydrogen power generation equipment in the premises of Sodegaura Thermal Power Plant. The electric power generated by hydrogen fuel will be supplied to TOHO Studio for moviemaking.

To realize carbon-free power generations JERA is considering to take up hydrogen power generation as one of power supplying ways. To this end the company signed a memorandum of agreement to work with TOHO, for reduction of CO2 used for movie making towards decarbonization of the entertainment field in 2021.

In June 2023, the company concluded a basic agreement aiming to zero emission of the power consumption in TOHO Studio and decided to introduce step by step the”24/7 Carbon-free Electric Power” which means no CO2 emission throughout 365 days for 24 hours per day for 7 days every week.

It is aimed to realize decarbonization of power consumption for the year 2030 in TOHO Studio be means of using clean energy generated from zero-emission thermal power generation using renewable energy and the dry method with hydrogen.

It also draws attention that the electric power using hydrogen energy will be supplied to a peculiar field of movie making in the future.

JERA was being constructing equipment for hydrogen power generation in the premises of Sodegaura Thermal Power Plant and has now completed the construction work and test operation.

In the power plant, Air Water Engineering sets up a hydrogen plant which is capable to provide four units of hydrogen loader (3,000Nm3 per unit x 4) and hydrogen is supplied from Sodegaura Plant of Air Water Green Design.

The electricity generated by hydrogen power has been delivered to TOHO Studio since November 29.

Air Water commented, “We intend to contribute to realization of a hydrogen energy society in the future, keeping close contact with the local authorities and the industrial fields as well as accelerating our business activities towards the carbon-neutral market.”
