OCI Materials expands capacity to produce WF6 to 250 t/y

Korean producer OCI Materials expanded its capacity to produce WF6 by 50 tons a year to 250 tons a year in February of this year. The company began construction to cope with this expansion at its production facility in June of last year. OCI Materials started WF6 production in 2004 with an initial capacity 50 tons a year. The company then expanded its capacity to 100 tons a year in 2006 and doubled it in 2007 to 200 tons a year.

The global market for WF6 is estimated to amount to an annual 700 tons. The overall demand is expected to skyrocket in the future, in accordance with the growth in developing countries,.

Growth of 26% in sales for FY2011 ending in December

Looking at the closing of FY2011, January to December period of 2011, shows that sales were up by 26%, coming to 296.4 billion won, operating profit by 25%, coming to 97.8 billion won, ordinary profit by 19%, coming to 85.9 billion won, and net profit for this term by 13%, coming to 67.1 billion won. Both sales and profit increased. Sales of specialty gas in the liquid crystal and semiconductor sectors have been moving well globally. Sales activity in the Japanese market, which OCI Materials entered in February of last year, achieved good results.
