Hitachi Sanki keeps steady business of N2 PSA for food industry

Hitachi Sanki (Industrial Equipment) System is enjoying steady sales of downsized PSA nitrogen gas generators for the food industry. The expected amount of shipments this year for monetary basis will be larger by 15% than that of last year.

About 60 to 70 units of Hitachi Sanki’s PSA-type nitrogen gas generator are constantly sold every year on an expanded scale with the cumulative shipments already exceeding 1,000 units. Much demand has been brought from the food industry during recent years, and its shipments to the industry now account for half of all. This trend has made the company reinforce its sales activity toward the industry.

According to the company, the requirements for nitrogen in the food field mostly exist in the range of a purity at 3N minimum and a dew point at -40℃ maximum. Nitrogen is used with various foodstuffs in order to keep freshness of flavor, color and scent. The company has also exported the generators to Taiwan and Thailand as swell as Korea where nitrogen injecting with the nitrogen PSA has been applied to keeping freshness of cheese and pizza.

The company says that most of the requirements are aimed for replacement of the conventional nitrogen cylinders with nitrogen PSA, which brings the best cost-saving effects for the nitrogen users who consume about five cylinders (35 m3) daily. As a compressor manufacturer, the company aims to differentiate itself from competitors, by presenting a higher output pressure of 0.6MPa (at 3N) through an integrated control with oil-free compressor and nitrogen PSA.
