Kanken Techno to construct second plant in Taiwan
“In Tainan, Taiwan Kanken Techno has constructed its second plant for exhaust gas abatement system, doubling its production capacity and expanding its local production capacity. The reason for this was high appreciation of the yen and the rise in demand overseas, chiefly in East Asian countries such as China and Taiwan.
The ratio of the overseas business for exhaust gas abatement systems has reached 60% in terms of the number of units sold. Taiwan is an especially major source of demand, accounting for a very large share of its business, with 40% of its units sold there. Located in Taiwan are the global class foundry producers Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC), and United Microelectronics (UMC), as well as led producers Epistar and Rextar. Guodian Jintech Solar Energy and Neo Solar Power are companies there producing solar cells. Further capital investment is expected to occur there later on too.
The company constructed its first plant overseas in Taiwan, completing it in April of 2011. Initially it started up with an operational ratio of 30%, but then followed a path upward. At the beginning of this year the ratio dropped due to a holding back on capital investment of the part of its customers. There was an about face, however, with a recovery in demand was seem setting in when TSMC again began engaging in capital investment.
Fumihiko Saito, manager of the Sales Department showed his eagerness when he stated, “For the time being our plants in Taiwan will remain as our core production center. As for the future, a tightening up of the environmental regulations is foreseen in countries like China so that we are considering getting ready for other regions.””
