BLM to increase price for helium to $84 per Mcf

The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced it will revise price of conservation (open market) Helium to $84 / Mcf, for FY2013 during the period from October 2012 to September 2013. This shows a rise by around 11% over FY2012 from $75.75 / Mcf. This is large increase for the first time during the last two years.

The revision of crude helium price is essentially set based on consumer price index (CPI) for the past few years. In terms of helium, however, increases of production cost and resource value are also considered. According to the BLM, they employed the new revision method to promote resource conservation.
