Iwatani sells more NH3 equipment for denitration to thermal power plants
Iwatani Corporation attained a cumulative number of 134 units of ammonium equipment for denitration for the FY ended March 2012 delivered to thermal power generating plants, garbage incinerators and integrated coal gasification combined cycle (IGCC). Out of the cumulative number, 82 units were delivered to thermal power plants and 52 to the other users. The business scale on an annual basis is 400 million.
Iwatani says it is enjoying a 70% share of the denitration equipment for thermal power plants of electric power companies on a cumulative basis. In that sense the company may well be said to be a major engineering company of ammonium equipment.
The ammonium equipment for denitration is an NH3 supplying device which decomposes nitrogen oxide (NOx) contained in the waste gas from power generators into harmless nitrogen and water vapour by catalytic reaction.
After receiving liquid NH3 transported by tank truck, the equipment functions to gasify the liquid. It consists of NH3 tank, compressor, vaporizer and vessel.
In 1970s when pollution problems began to be conspicuous, there was a certain period of increase to adopt such equipment and then Iwatani enter the business.
Recently, although the number of units is not so big, the equipment became a long seller having the constant demand. After the nuclear accident last year, the thermal power generation system has been reconsidered and accordingly inquiries for the said equipment have been increasing. In 2012 the equipment will be completed at two locations of the major electric power plants and also one more location has already decided to construct the equipment for 2013.
