Air Water acquires the Terumo home care business
“Air Water has reached agreement to have the medical equipment manufacturer Terumo transfer its home oxygen therapy (HOT) and its home infusion therapy (HIT) businesses as of February 28.
Along with the Terumo HOT and HIT businesses, what Air Water will be obtaining at this time is the wholly owned Terumo affiliate Ikiken which produces oxygen concentrators and the Terumo sales agency Terumo Medical Care, making for a total of 4 business in all. However, within the HOT business, with the exception of the pulse oxymeter, the HIT tube set is supplied by Terumo. The very recent amount of sales of the 4 businesses amounts to about 3.1 billion yen (for the March, 2012 period). Combined with the sales of 4.3 billion of the Air Water home care business, total sales come to around 7.4 billion yen.
The Terumo home care business encompasses about 10,000 patients nationwide, with annual sales of around 2.3 billion. The number of Air Water home care patients is around just over 7,500, with the business itself amounting to 2.4 billion. Together this totals 17,500 patients. With about 150,000 HOT patients of AirWater nationwide, Air Water accounts for 12% of Japanese market share, positioning as the #3 home care company in Japan.”
