Number of high-pressure gas accidents decreases in 2012
“According to statistics compiled by The High Pressure Gas Safety Institute of Japan, the number of high-pressure gas accidents occurred in 2012 came to 889 decreased by 163 compared to the previous year. It is the first time to decrease during the past decade.
Of this, the number of accidents due to natural disaster came to 379, showing a decrease of 79, while those due to loss and theft came to 510, showing a decrease of 84. Both of these showed decreases.
However, of the 379 accidents due to natural disaster, 72 accidents resulted from human factor such as miscalculation or malfunction. Accidents due to the human factor increased by 23 compared to 2011 when the number went to peak during the last decade.”
