Mitsubishi Kakoki Kaisha sells a new-type generator for H2 stations
“Mitsubishi Kakoki Kaisha has developed a new model of hydrogen generator which has attained the world-highest level in energy efficiency, and started to sell it to hydrogen stations. The new model named “HyGeia-A” was born on the basis of the conventional HyGeia machine through the company’s research and development under the NEDO’s commissioned project titled “the Technological development of Production, Transportation and Storage system of Hydrogen.” The complete machine was assessed with demonstration at Senju Hydrogen Station operated by Tokyo Gas in accordance also with NEDO’s joint research project titled “Technological and Social Demonstration of Regional H2 Supply Infrastructure”.
In comparison with the conventional model, it is characteristic in high efficiency, low cost and compactness, and its energy efficiency has been enhanced by 10 points. The new model is equivalent to the hydrogen on-site units which are reputed to have the highest efficiency level recognized by the International Energy Agency/Hydrogen Implement Agreement (IEA-HIA), as boasted by the company of the excellent efficiency.
There are sixteen hydrogen stations for demonstration purposes in Japan now, and the company is supplying its hydrogen generators to nine stations out of them. By the way, in this year new hydrogen stations are also under construction at three more locations, and the company has already received orders from two locations out of them.
Forecasting that on-site hydrogen stations equipped with hydrogen generator will prevail as a main stream with the merits of no distribution required and possible use of town gas or LPG infrastructures, the company has a policy to go ahead actively with reduction of equipment cost, rearrangement of production system and sales promotion.”
