Swagelok’s training of process analyzer sampling system
“In October, Swagelok Japan had a training course in Tokyo and Osaka under
Mr. Tony Waters
thetitle of “Process Analyzer Sampling System Training” in which its customers learn intensively the basic design and precautious requirements for sampling to improve their quality-control and safety level. The training course was participated by 29 persons from 14 customers in Tokyo and 24 from 10 customers in Osaka, who are working operators now having 5 to 10 years’ experiences mainly in the petrochemical industries.
Swagelok has been carrying out the same training over the world under the concept that much better sampling system must be developed to enhance reliability of process analysis. In fact, the course has so far been held in 12 countries with over 500 participants from 120 companies.
The lecturer was Mr. Tony Waters, a consultant on process analysis having 45 years’ experiences in the sampling system. He is the world-first author on sampling, and his book with the title of “Industrial Sampling Systems (for general industries)” is available from Swagelok’s designated distributors.
Takatsugu Daikei, chief of Sales Strategy Group of Swagelok Japan GI Business Div., disclosed the purpose of having the training in Japan, saying “Although the technology of analyzer has advanced enough to meet users’ needs, there has been no establishment of needs for sampling technology to respond to such advancement. It has been feared, therefore, to affect the analytical accuracy. Particularly, in the shortage of engineering staff, there has been no appropriate succession in detail of sampling technology and many problems in the pre-treatment of process have often been pointed out such as contamination, delayed schedule or inadequate operational safety. That is why many people asked us to hold such a seminar on safety.””
