Horiba Stec to build a new technology developing center
“Horiba Stec will construct additionally a clean room and an experiment laboratory at the east side of the present Kyoto Head Office to establish “Horiba Cutting-edge Technology Development Center (tentatively called)”.
The construction started in October and is scheduled to be completed within next year with a total cost of 3 billion yen. After the scheduled completion of the center, the development and productive function of Horiba Group’s semiconductor-related business now being dispersed at 4 locations will be integrated into the new center, for the development of semiconductor sensors, enhancement of production speed and downsizing of products.
The compact and light semiconductor sensor is used for all products of Horiba Group’s five business lines (automobile, environment/process, medical, semiconductor and science) which includes product pH meter, automotive emission analyzer, stack gas analyzer, thermometer and radiation counter.
Through the integration at this time Horiba undertakes to reinforce the core technology, realizing to save time to develop compact and highly sensitive sensor in use of the MEMS technology, so that they can promote downsized light analyzing and measuring instruments.
For reference, this investment follows Horiba Stec’s expansion of Kumamoto Plant in last year and Kyoto Fukuchiyama Technology Center to be completed within this year.”
