NIKI Glass sold 25 non-cryogen 3He refrigerating systems
Niki Glass now enjoys quite a good business in the helium 3 dilution refrigerating systems which it started to sell in 2009, having already sold 25 systems.
The product named “Non-refrigerant Sorption-pump 3He Refrigerating System” employs pulse tube cryorefrigerators having a high freezing power, not using any cryogen (refrigerant) like liquid helium, so that the system can cool a sample stage down to 0.3K or less, infinitely close to absolute zero. It consists of pulse tube cryorefrigerator, helium compressor and 3He condensing head.
Although Niki adopts refrigerators and compressors made by Cryomech of U.S.A, the product itself is completely original including the systemized feature using Niki’s own condensing head.
The most remarkable feature is to cause almost no oscillation. The pulse-type in itself is a refrigerator causing very little oscillation, but Niki further reduced the displacement oscillation to 0.1μm@10Hz by adopting a floating structure for the cooling stage. It has brought an easier application to the experiment of refrigeration of the superconducting detectors or superconductive device which are inherently adverse to oscillation.
The minimum temperature retaining time is 100 hours or more (an effective performance time from 120 to 150 hours), and operation from the ambient to the lowest temperature is automated completely. The lowest achieving temperature is 0.3K or less for 3He filling but in case of even 4He filling 0.9K or less has been realized. The cryorefrigerating capacity is 100μW@0.35K with the maximum sample space of ⏀200×H140(mm).
According to the cryogenic equipment group of the company, the product development started with customer’s request for setting up a system to enable application of light to a sample cooled down to 0.3K or less in connection with customer’s physical properties evaluation for tera hertz spectrum. Since then, there has been a great progress year after year in advancement of cryogenic experiments such as physical properties evaluation or analysis of a quantum dot, and there is an expanding demand for the product now.
