Mizushima Industrial Complex to have H2/Offgas inter-connected highway
Okayama Prefecture starts to construct from this year an H2/Offgas highway inside the Mizushima Industrial Complex jointly with Kurashiki City and eight companies including Mitsubishi Chemicals who operate in the complex so as to implement the project to utilize surplus hydrogen as part of future energies.
According to Tomohiko Nakamura deputy counselor of Prefectural Industrial Promotion Section, this project is part of the concept which the prefecture has put up aiming at mutually flexible supply of gas and electricity between plants regarding the whole complex as one united entity since June 2011 for promotion of the regional development and stable employment.
As the Mizushima Industrial Complex has a potential to supply H2 of 1.3 billion Nm3, it is also put into viewpoints to utilize outside the complex the surplus hydrogen brought by an effective use of the highway,
With regard to the use of H2 in the complex, Kawasaki City of Kanagawa Prefecture also is making out an idea to import hydrogen from abroad for power generation and industrial use.
