Horiba Stec to expand portable stack gas analyzer into Europe
As of November 16, the major producer of analyzing and measuring systems Horiba Stec will be expanding its sales of its portable stack gas analyzers, the PG-300 Series, in Europe. The company positions this product as a strategic tool in its arsenal for use in expanding sales in China and India, as it strives to expand its market in Asia, in addition to Europe. It is targeting sales of 250 units for the first year, with 400 units for the following year, and 500 units for 2015.
In 2001 Horiba Stec established a sales network in the European market for exhaust combustion gas analyzers. It secured European certification in conjunction with a third party, a testing and inspection organization called TÜV Rheinland (headquartered in Cologne, Germany) which conducts safety tests of industrial machinery and certification. The company anticipates that bringing in the new product will be part of a replacement demand. Along with this, by expanding its business in Europe which is very strict when it comes to environmental regulations, the company is aiming at achieving a global standard for the portable type. Also, as a spokesman at the company put it, “The US market does not require as high a level of measuring capacity as does the European market, with low priced products being the main stream ones.”
As a single unit, the new product can simultaneously measure up to 5 elements in waste gas, including oxygen, carbon dioxide, and methane. It marks the first time in the industry for having an SD card installed as the recording unit, improving compatibility with various types of data recording and computers.
