Osaka Gas Chemicals to merger Japan EnviroChemicals in April next year
Osaka Gas decided to merger its 2 affiliates Osaka Gas Chemicals (OGC) and Japan EnviroChemicals (JEC) on April 1 next year, with the former (OGC) as surviving company.
JEC the world top-ranked manufacturer of adsorbents for N2 PSA has been a member of the OGC Group who is mainly engaged in the activated carbon business like JEC since the joint acquisition of Osaka Gas and OGC in 2005. The two affiliates seeking jointly to integrate their business and management have found a way to rearrange the duplicated business and decided to accelerate integration to enable a quick decision-making for management.
The newly-born OGC restarting next spring will become a comprehensive material manufacturer to supply fine chemicals, carbon materials, adsorbents, activated carbons and preservatives. An expected scale of business in the initial year will be approximately 30 billion yen according to estimation as converted from the present sales amounts of OGC and JEC.
In the field of adsorbents for N2 PSA, the company will remain as the top manufacturer of the world. In addition, its activated carbon business will be ranked at the third place in the world following the acquisition of Swedish Jacobi Carbons last year. In the field of fluorine used for LCD panel and mobile camera lens or the wood protection paint (selling under the brand of “XYLADECOR” dominating the domestic market), the company will also become one of the leading manufacturers of the world.
