Matsumoto Sangyo expects more growth in overseas business
The overseas business of Matsumoto Sangyo has been expanding in China, US and Mexico during these years. Though its business in China stays flat, it now enjoys satisfactory developments in the North American countries. M.U.S Technology (MUST) of its American subsidiary established a new plant in Alabama and held an opening ceremony in June 2014 when its operation started. The plant is going to deal with welding machines and at the same time is planning to make proposal-based sales activities using Matsumoto product with laser laboratory for demonstration.
It is also noteworthy that MUST is so active to exhibit its products in FABTECH to be held in Atlanta, US in November 2014, which is a comprehensive exhibition of industrial robots as well as welding and industrial machines.
In June 2014, Matsumoto established the fourth overseas location of business in Thailand under a name of Matsumoto System Trading Thailand (T-MAST). For information Matsumoto’s sales in the overseas business amounts to about 12 billion yen at present.
The overseas business of the company is carried out mainly with the Japanese companies residing locally.
In the beginning of September 2014, President Yoshida went on an inspection tour of Matsumoto Technica de Mexico (MAMEX) of the Mexican subsidiary. After the tour he showed a sense of expectancy and intention to go ahead more with his overseas business, saying, “The local users are looking for a business model of the Japanese style and it seems that the business know-how we have fostered in Japan is also needed abroad.”
