Output of high-purity monocrystalline silicon increased by 26.6% in 2014

According to Japan Society of Newer Metals, the production of high-purity monocrystalline silicon in 2014 amounted to 8051 tons with an increase of 26.6% compared with that of last year after an interval of three years.

The sales of high-purity monocrystalline silicon consisted of 3903 tons sold in the domestic market (up by 1.2%) and 4603 tons exported (up by 26%). It means more than half of the output was exported.
 
The Semiconductor Silicon Division of Shin-Etsu Chemical who is the major domestic manufacturer of monocrystalline silicon sold JPY230 billion (up by 7.9%) and SUMCO sold JPY 59.5 billion (up by 20.6%) in 2014.  As the domestic production increased, the sales amount grew accordingly.
