Air Water Hydrogen started H2 piping business using PSA
Air Water Hydrogen started the hydrogen (H2) piping supply business using H2 PSA as a new attempt from July 1.
This business is aimed to supply by pipeline the hydrogen purified up to 5N by PSA using the petroleum off-gas as a crude material which generates in the Keiyo Petrochemical Complex located in Sodegaura City. The H2 PSA is set up on-site in customer’s premises, which can be called “an extremely rare H2 on-site supply business with PSA” in our country. The purified H2 is supplied to the major consumer neighboring the complex. The H2 PSA installed on customer’s site having a capacity of 250m3 per hour is made by Air Water Plant Engineering (AWPE). It is the first experience for AWPE to install a PSA as stand-alone equipment, although they are engaged in associating H2 PSA into the H2 generator “VH.”
The biggest feature is the function of automatic follow-up operation attached for response to any H2 flow change. It can respond to a load change of flow-rate from 30 to 100% and is designed to maintain a high recycling rate even at the time of low operation rate, so that a high-level energy-saving operation can be attained. In addition, as an optimum adsorbent has been selected to design the process, the quality of product hydrogen can be stabilized.
President Yoshio Shiomi of the company said, “It is really significant for us that we have succeeded in participation into the high-level use network of hydrogen in the Complex. We would like to expect further expansion from now on.”
