Honeywell Japan marks over 80 cases to adopt low-GWP HFO gas for blowing

Honeywell Japan is enjoying good sales of HFO gas for blowing and attained adoption of the gas in more than 80 cases in its building projects.

The gas is a low GWP blowing agent under the product name of “Solstice LBA” to be used as an alternative for HFC245fa. It is mainly used for insulation materials of on-site blowing type aimed to improve insulation and airtight properties of building structures or refrigerator-freezers. Its GWP is 1 which is the same as that of CO2 and classified as a non-fluorocarbon substance. It is said to reduce global warming by 99.9% compared with the conventional fluorocarbon blowing agent.

According to Honeywell Japan, the insulation materials of on-site blowing type are often used by hospitals, schools or high-class condominiums and Honeywell’s product is increasingly adopted in cold areas as its adaptability to the cold climate is highly evaluated. In addition, it is also characteristic that the product can assure insulation properties in a smaller quantity than the conventional blowing agent and also complies with the Green Purchasing Law. The company expects that the revised energy-saving standard or the green procurement of the private fields will support more expanded adoption of the product from now on.
