On December 22, 2015, Showa Denko increased the high-purity NH3 production capacity of its Taiwanese plant by 1000 tons making a total of 3500 tons per year.

High-purity ammonia is an indispensable specialty gas to form a nitride film in the production of compounded semiconductors including LED or LCD panels.

SDK has already been engaged in the production and sales of high-purity ammonia in Taiwan since 2005 (Taiwan Showa Chemicals Manufacturing, located in Tainan). To cope with the increase of local demand, SDK has come to reinforce it production capacity.

Together with the domestic capacity of 1500 tons per year (SDK Kawasaki Operations, located in Kawasaki) and 2000 tons per year in China (Zhejiang Quzhou Juhua Showa Electoronic Chemical Materials, Zhejiang Quzhou City), the total production capacity now comes to 7000 tons per year.
