Hyosung of Korea to build new NF3 plant in Zhejiang, China
Hyosung of the major Korean chemical producer unveiled its plan to construct a new plant of nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) having an approximate capacity of 2,500 tons per year in Quzhou City of Zhejiang, China. The investment amounts to about 200 billion won, and the planned start of production will be in the first half of 2017.
For information, Hyosung has a plan to invest about 100 billion won to expand 3 plants at Ryongyon of Southern Word of Ulsan, Korea to expand its production of NF3 up to 1,250 tons per year for a full-fledged start of production in March.
NF3 is used to clean the plasma CVD chambers for semiconductors and LCDs. The demand in Korea only has already reached a scale of 10,000 tons per year, but Hyosung’s idea of the new plant is attributed to the expected future growth in the production of LCD panel for TV in China. In fact, large-scale national projects are planned at 10 locations.
