Showa Denko (SDK) will increase the production capacity of high-purity boron-trichloride (BCℓ3) 1.5 times up to 250 tons per year in March this year at its Kawasaki Operations.

BCℓ3 is an etching gas used for processing of aluminum wires in the production process of liquid crystal panel (LCP) and silicon semiconductors.

According to SDK’s Public Relations Office, with the continuous investments to organic EL panels using aluminum wiring and low-temperature polysilicon LCPs, SDK has expected a stable demand for BCℓ3 in future and has been expanding step by step its production capacity since several years ago. At this time, part of the process has been replaced to enhance the production capacity up to 1.5 times more.
