TNSC to build a new plant of liquefied carbon dioxide and dry ice in the United States
Continental Carbonic Products (CCPI headquartered in the State of Illinois) which was acquired by Matheson Tri-Gas, the US affiliate of Taiyo Nippon Sanso (President: Yujiro Ichihara) in 2014 is going to have a new plant of liquefied carbon dioxide and dry ice in the State of Pennsylvania to be completed in the middle of 2017.
The crude gas will be supplied by Pennsylvania Grain Processing who produces bioethanol from grain materials in Clear Field City of the state, and build up CO2 liquefaction recovery equipment, dry ice producing machine, etc. It is said that a high-purity crude gas as taken in an oil refinery can be obtained from bioethanol. The production capacity and the amount of investment have not been disclosed.
In February 2014, Matheson Tri-Gas bought CCPI of American LCO2 and dry ice producer and established business operation at 40 locations including eight production bases in the Mid-west, South and North-east districts of the United States. The new production base this time is located in the north-east area having large cities where there is a high demand for foodstuff and further business enhancement is expected.
TNSC Group’s LCO2 and dry ice business in the United States has expanded to 13 bases for production and 45 for business operation in total including those transferred from Air Liquide on September 9. TNSC now estimates that its share rate will grow to about 10% for LCO2 and 30% for dry ice in the United States.
