Tomoe Shokai establishes Tomoe Malaysia to fill sterilizing gases

On November 23, Tomoe Shokai Co., Ltd. (President: Sadao Fukao) completed a new plant of Tomoe Malaysia which is incorporated in Malaysia to produce and fill sterilizing gases.
The investment amounted to 6.5 million dollars and its production capacity is the largest of the Tomoe Group. Tomoe Malaysia was established with a joint investment of Tomoe Industrial Gas Malaysia and Fujiox (President: Takao Fujimoto), who also established a sales company of sterilizing gas named “FUJIOX Malaysia” in the same plant with a joint investment with Tomoe Malaysia.

Fujiox which has abundant experiences to supply sterilizing gases to the domestic medical equipment manufacturers has been exploring a way to expand sales along with the trend of equipment manufacturers advancing abroad and came to tie up with Tomoe Shokai which is well experienced in the overseas business.

Tomoe Shokai, on the other hand, was much fascinated at Fujiox’s strong connections with equipment manufacturers and paved the cooperative way on the occasion of the developing activities in Malaysia. The new company “Tomoe Malaysia” is Tomoe Shokai’s 14th overseas corporation and the fourth one capable to fill sterilizing gases following those in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. In Malaysia it is the second overseas affiliate next to Tomoe Industrial Gas Malaysia of specialty gas distributor established in 2007.

The local company itself was incorporated in October 2015, and then started to proceed with application for permission to produce and sell sterilizing gases. From December of the year the company entered to construct its plant with an investment of 6.5 million dollars and completed it in November 2016. A full-fledged production is scheduled to start in early December this year. The equipment consists of EOG (ethylene oxide gas) receiving tank, N2 storage tank with capacity of 11t for safety and sealing, CO2 storage tank with capacity of 43t for dilution and scrubber for cylinder cleaning and pipeline purging.

As for the production plan is not announced officially, Tomoharu Nagayama president of Tomoe Malaysia said, “The new plant is furnished with a production capacity of the largest scale of the Tomoe group.” It means a substantial output is expected.

The new plant is located in the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) of the industrial complex in the State of Kedah, northwest of Malaysia. According to President Nagayama, the reason of construction inside the complex is that there are many medical equipment manufacturers gathering near the complex who would be our customers in the future.

The Malaysian Government is endeavoring now to invite edge-cutting industries and implementing such preferential treatments as “Five-year exemption of corporate tax” and “Tax exemption for import of raw materials” to the medical-related manufacturers. For this, remarkable movements of medical equipment manufacturers of foreign capitals are seen especially among the three major metropolitan areas of Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru. That is the reason in the background why Malaysia was chosen by the company as the place to expand a global sales network for sterilizing gases.

President Nagayama said in a highly motivated tone, “We first consider the whole area of Malaysia as our sales target. Our sterilizing gases have already been getting a good evaluation in the country. As an inland transportation is possible, we also take into consideration our sales over to Singapore.”
