SK Materials and Showa Denko to establish JV to boost CF specialty gas business in Korea
At the end of last year SK Materials (President: Lin Min-gyu, headquartered in Yeongju-si, North Gyeongsang province) and Showa Denko (President: Hideo Ichikawa) concluded an agreement to establish a JV to produce and sell CF specialty gases for the manufacturing process of the latest semiconductors.
The JV named “SK Showa Denko” will be establish in February, with a capital of 21 billion won 51% invested by SK Material and 49% by Showa Denko and be headquartered in SK Materials’ head office. The new company is planning to produce monofluoromethane gas (CH3F) and hexafluoro-1,3-butadiene (C4F6).
SK Materials established a joint venture “SK Tri Chemi” with Tri Chemical Laboratories last May to produce and sell high-purity precursor (capital: 10 billion won, 65% invested by SK Materials and 35% by Tri Chemical Laboratories). It is the second establishment of JV with Japanese companies.
