The contract for the main facility for the first (170,000kW) Integrated coal Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) verification project in Japan being promoted by Chugoku Electric and Electric Power Development was obtained by Hitachi while the contract for the construction and installation was obtained by the JGC Corporation. Construction will begin next year, with completion planned for February of 2017. A cryogenic air separation unit with a GO production capacity of about 30,000 m3 an hour will be required for operation of the plant, with the supplier of the facility yet to be selected.
