Honeywell sells more R448A to Asia Pacific Areas

Honeywell is expanding its sales of the new refrigerant “R448A” foregoing in the developed countries into the entire Asian and Pacific districts from April of this year.

R448A (registered trade name “SOLSTICE N40”) is an alternative refrigerant to replace R22 or R404A. It is a mixture gas comprising five sorts of HFO and HFC, and is mainly applied to freezing/refrigerating appliances for business use.

Most characteristic is its low GWP of 1387, which is a reduction of 65% from 3922 of R404A. In addition, it enables a near drop-in replacement from the conventional refrigerants which also brings an energy-saving effect.

Honeywell describes the energy-saving effect referring to the case of having attained improvement by more than 5% comparing to the conventional refrigerants in its introduction to a certain US supermarket chain.

It has already been delivered and applied to more than 2000 freezing/refrigerating appliances globally including the US mainly. In Japan the sales has already been carried out since last November, and the activities are being extended to China, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
