Teijin withdraws from home healthcare business in US

Teijin has decided to withdraw from the home healthcare business in the US fulfilling part of the radical engagement for a structural business reform (Modified Mid-term Plan until 2016 announced in November 2014). Teijin is going to sell to PPS HME under Quadrant Management of the US investment company all stocks possessed by its consolidated affiliates Braden Partners (headquartered in Ca.) and Associated Healthcare Systems (headquartered in NY.).

In 2008 Teijin entered into the market through the acquisition of Braden Partners of home healthcare provider and used to be tackling to expand the business after then. However, on account of the reformed medical insurance system of the US the business environment changed so drastically that the business earning has been plunged into a serious condition during these several years. At the time of the financial closing the company explained it was going to reorganize its business bases in the US market.

Quadrant Management is said to have a major medical provider of quite high-ranked business scale under its organization in the US.

According to the consolidated financial closing ending March 2017, the company’s net profit to post will be about 11 billion yen judging from the allocation of provision (special loss) for the loss on sale of asset and the estimated reduction of taxation costs exceeding the loss amount.
