Michell Japan looks for agent to sell AII’s products

Michell Instruments Japan was affiliated last October by Battery Ventures of investment firm, which has decided that Michell will integrate for its sales services the US AII brand products handled by the Division of Process Sensing Technology (PST) and all other brands to be acquired in the future. Responding to the decision, Michell Japan concluded a general agency agreement with AII last year. However, the company has now announced that it is looking for an agent of AII.

President Yoshitaka Kawano explained the reason of the strategic change saying, “We surely concluded a general agency agreement with AII, but in the field of medical equipment parts for which we have no confidence our conventional agents have continued to work for us. Should we have to sell all of them and handle other brands of measuring equipment, we would surely have quite much difficulty in respect of manpower.” He added, “Excepting dew-point recorders or oxygen meters, we will have to suffer much loss if we start to sell quite unknown analytical equipment from the very beginning. To sell them efficiently, we should take advantage of the existing sales power.”

Keeping the repairing and maintenance system as well as the AII calibration room which has been developed since last year, the company intends to play the role of technology-based trading firm for overseas brand measuring equipment, which carries out clerical works on import duty and also the function of inventory in an integrated style. The first thing to do is to look for an AII agent. As for the brands to be handled from now on, the allocation of roles will be determined after consulting with the existing sales gate keepers.
