AWI’s first M&A abroad in medical field
On June 21, Air Water acquired 55% shares each of Globalwide International which engages in the hospital interior and equipment business in Singapore (President: Ng Tze Bee) and Global M&E (President: Goh Winnie). Air Water has been doing the industrial gas business in Vietnam and India, but has now experienced M&A abroad in the medical field for the first time.
Both of the acquired companies are doing the interior and equipment business for hospitals mainly including beddings and wiring works around operating rooms in Singapore. Globalwide International takes care of interior installations, while Global M&E deals with facilities with installation. Their sales during FY2017 ending March amounted to 2.475 billion yen.
The founders of the two companies had been looking for investors from Japan to expand their business territories, and through an M&A supporting company they were introduced to Air Water, resulting in the capital investment at this time.
In the Air Water group there is Air Water Safety Service which similarly engages in the medical gas piping for hospitals, designing and installation of facilities in operation rooms. The affiliate is planning to provide its products and technologies to these two local companies for deployment in Singapore. On the other hand, it is planned that the high designability of their products and technologies will be introduced into the business materials of the group for a synergy effect. With this idea as a stepping stone Air Water intends to go ahead positively with overseas developments in the medical field.
